Neighbours’ Annie Jones: Marriage to famous husband, caring for sick mum and Jane Harris role

Annie Jones, the star of Neighbours, is most known for playing Jane Harris, a.k.a. Plain Jane Superbrain.

The actress’s portrayal of the character first appeared on Ramsey Street in 1986 and afterwards left the neighbourhood before returning in 2020.

Jane has experienced some of the most memorable scenes from the series, including her amazing transformation from a bookish geek to a fashionista.

But how does Anne live in reality?

What country is Annie from and how old is she?

Annie is 55 years old and was born on January 13, 1967. She was born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia.

Her real name is Annika Jancso, despite the fact that Annie Jones is her theatrical name.

She has three older sisters and was born to Hungarian immigrants who met in Adelaide.

Who was chosen by Annie to play Jane Harris?

Initially, Annie had tried out for the part of Charlene Mitchell, which was ultimately played by Kylie Minogue.

She persisted in getting in touch with the show’s producers after learning she wouldn’t be getting the part, and two months later she was cast.

Jane Harris was renowned for being quite intelligent and like to dress simply. But after undergoing a spectacular makeover, Guy Pierce’s Mike Young became interested in her.

She finally left the programme in 1989 to pursue a career abroad before joining the cast on an ongoing basis in 2020.

Where else has Annie appeared on television?

Later, Annie played the parts of Jess Campbell on Sons and Daughters and Allie Carter on Newlyweds, two additional well-liked characters.

The gifted actress is a two-time Logie Award winner. For her role as Jane Harris, she won the Logie Award for Most Popular Actress in 1989.

After playing Clare Mallory in Jackaroo, she won her second Logie in 1991 for Most Popular Actress in a Telemovie or Miniseries.

Five years after leaving Neighbours, she was forced to put her career on hold in order to care for her mother, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

She said to The Mirror: “I decided to leave just after Kylie and Jason.” All I wanted to do was try new things, participate in new projects, and work in new fields. After Neighbours, a lot of performers accomplished incredible things.

“I have no regrets. I believe it has improved me in many ways. I believe that life events are what you learn from; they are what life throws at you.

“Anyone who has dealt with dementia or Alzheimer’s will understand what it’s like. Seeing someone vanish before your eyes is painful.

Who is Annie’s husband?

Paul Moloney and Annie have been wed since 1989. While collaborating on the programme The Henderson Kids, the pair became friends.

While Paul was working as a director, Annie played the part of Sylvia for 11 episodes in 1985.
